INCREASING OUR FAITH FOR THE ENDTIMES
The Bible is a book of God’s plan, promises, provision and protection. We are living in the last days before the return of Jesus Christ and therefore, need an increasing Faith to endure and persevere in the very difficult times ahead. While God is judging individuals, cities, nations and even the entire world, Satan, and his cohorts are doing their evil deeds to control and destroy the world at the same time. As the world is facing increasing corruption, immorality, terrorism, tyranny, loss of freedom, wars and possibly a nuclear war, great natural disasters, currency weaknesses and national bankruptcies, economic malaise and collapse, personal privation and poverty, only our Faith in Almighty God and in His Word will deliver us from the ‘floods of calamities and firestorms of destruction’ soon coming upon the earth!
The Lord said ‘..Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour’ Is43:1-3. This promise holds true for us today, to all that believe on Jesus Christ. Ac16:31 states ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house’. This paper will look into the categorization and the characterization of Faith- what Faith is all about!
What is Faith and How Do We Get Faith?
The Bible tells us ‘..Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God’ Ro10:17. Faith comes from the many promises, lessons, instructions, and examples in the Bible. Faith comes by studying the Word of God. Heb 11:1 defines Faith as ‘the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’. Faith is simply believing God for something that He already promised us in His Word- that He would do what He said He will do. Heb11:6 continues ‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him’. Here we see that unless we know His Word, believe on and act upon it, we cannot please God and receive anything from Him. Faith is believing that God is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him!
Faith is ‘our currency’ by which we can receive blessings from God. Faith is the only currency we need to get anything from God! Faith requires that we obey, trust, rely on, and hope in God. Faith pleases God. Only by Faith can we obtain and attain the blessings that God has for us. As God is Faithful 1Th5:24, 2Th3:3, Re19:11, we also need to be Faithful to His Word Mt24:45,25:21. The Word of God illustrates many kinds, examples, and nuances of Faith. While the Old Testament gives us many rich examples of Faith, by the heroes of Faith, like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samson, David, Elijah, Daniel, etc., the New Testament also teaches us much about Faith. Jesus is the author and finisher of our Faith Heb12:2. Hebrews Chapter 11 is known as the Faith chapter, where the Heroes of Faith are found.
What Did Jesus, the Author and Finisher of Our Faith, Say About Faith
Jesus said ‘If ye have Faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you’ Mt17:20. Here Jesus was using a hyperbole to illustrate a point. A mustard seed is about the size of a grain of sand. If we have ‘mustard seed Faith’, we can remove the barriers in our life. Simple Faith will move the hand of God. In another verse, Jesus said ‘With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible’ Mt19:26. When a centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant by just declaring it rather than to visit him, Jesus said ‘I have not found so Great Faith, no, not in Israel’ Mt8:10. God can see or perceive our Faith, or lack of Faith. Mk2:5 states ‘When Jesus saw their Faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee’.
When we diligently seek the Lord, He will reward us with what we desire. When a Canaanite woman sought help for her daughter vexed with a devil, Jesus said ‘O woman, great is thy Faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour’ Mt15:28. To another woman Jesus said ‘thy Faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour’ Mt9:22. Jesus told the blind man ‘Receive thy sight: thy Faith hath saved thee’ Lk18:42. Here we see that it is our Faith in God that heals us, makes us whole, saves us, and grants us what we desire. Jesus said ‘What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them’ Mk11:24, and ‘..all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive’ Mt21:22. Faith is about praying, believing and receiving from God. Jesus said ‘..According to your faith be it unto you’ Mt9:29. The Bible states ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever’ Heb13:8, meaning what He has done for others, He will do for you also! Just have Faith!
A Word Study on Faith
The following is a Word study on Faith- the kinds, examples, and nuances of Faith as found in the Holy Bible. It will also cover some examples of the Bible Heroes of Faith recorded throughout the 4000-year annals of mankind, from the time of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, the Prophets, to Jesus Christ and His disciples, and also the antithesis or opposite of Faith. By studying these examples and references to Faith, those who are believers, can then strengthen our own Faith in the Lord, and be prepared for the onslaught of evil and perversity that are coming upon the earth in the endtimes! In order to appreciate and learn from them, it is very important to refer to the scripture verses for each of these types of Faith.

The examples of Faith shown above describe the nuances or shades of meanings of what our Faith should be like. By their titles and by examining the accompanying scripture verses, we can then understand how Faith comes to us: ‘..Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God’ Ro10:17. In the old days, there were only a few Bibles available. And all of them were written and copied by hand, until the first printing press was invented by German goldsmith, Johann Gutenberg in 1448. Thus, only a few people possessed written copies of the Word of God or could even read, and most people learned and increased their Faith by hearing someone else share the Word of God with them! But today, the Bible is the best-selling, and hopefully, the most read book of all time.

The above are just a few examples of the Heroes of Faith found in the Holy Bible. In some of them, the Faith of these individuals is revealed by their obedience to God, like Abel, Abraham, Ananias, Enoch, Mary, the apostle Paul, etc. In other examples, they show how God miraculously protected and delivered them from a terrible death or injury such as Daniel, Rahab, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then there are the examples of how God had supernaturally used these individuals to bring forth great victories like David against Goliath, Moses against the Pharaoh, Joshua defeating the Canaanites, Gideon against the Midianites, and Elijah against the 850 prophets of Jezebel and Baal. Finally, a few examples show how great healings were wrought by Faith, as in the cases of Blind Bartimaeus, and Peter’s healing a man, lame from birth for over 40 years Ac3:6, 4:22.

- Ye of Little Faith Mt6:30,8:26,14:31,16:8, Lk12:28
The opposite of faith is fear, anxiousness, anxiety, depression, doubt, disbelief, defeat, unbelief, wrong belief, believing a lie, believing false teachers, believing in others or in the circumstances, deception, greed, wickedness, spiritual blindness, denying God, denying the finished works of Jesus at the Cross, denying the work of the Holy Spirit, lies, sin and other works of the flesh Ga5:19. Ro14:23 states ‘Whatsoever is not of faith is sin’. Heb11:6 quotes ‘Without faith, it is impossible to please God’. Without faith, we cannot receive or get anything from God. No Faith, No Blessings From God! Much Faith, Many Blessings From God!
Faith means trusting in God.
Finally, we are living in days when TRUST IN GOD is imperative. It is not an option- for without trusting God and what He has spoken, it would be impossible to have the Faith needed to deal with hardships- to understand that what is now taking place at home and elsewhere in the world which seems out of control, is really under God’s control!
In conclusion, we are saved, healed, delivered, protected, helped, blessed by Faith, and one day, we will be translated or Raptured by Faith. Faith is only for believers in Christ, and His Word! Faith is for those who love God! Faith knows no defeat! Paul wrote ‘..thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’ 1Co15:57, and ‘..my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus’ Php4:19. Faith will always give us the victory in our lives! In the endtimes that we are living in, we will really need increasing FAITH IN GOD to survive the coming onslaughts. This is what Faith is all about! AMEN!

THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR FAITH IN THE ENDTIMES
The Bible is a book of God’s plan, promises, provision and protection. As we are living in the last days before the return of Jesus Christ, we must have ever increasing Faith to endure and persevere in the difficult times ahead. God is judging individuals, cities, nations and even the entire world, before Jesus returns in the Rapture. As things are literally falling apart around us, it is only our Faith in Almighty God and His Word that will carry us through these perilous times. Jesus spoke of a time coming when ‘nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows’ Mt24:7,8. He said ‘Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken’ Lk21:26. Only an unwavering Faith in God will deliver and liberate us from the tremendous evil that is about to come. Here we will examine the importance of our Faith in God in the endtimes!
What is Faith?
If one had a lot of money, he could buy almost anything he needed or wanted in this world. A beautiful place to live in, nice clothing, good food, the best medical care, luxurious travel, and many exciting things to see and to do! But there are many more important things in life that one cannot buy, for they are not for sale! The only way we can obtain salvation and eternal life, supernatural healing, deliverance from evil, love, peace and joy, protection, guidance from the Holy Spirit, victory over Satan, and power with God is through our Faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus fully paid for all these blessings by His sacrifice, death, and resurrection at Cavalry. Jesus paid for our salvation. Ep2:8 states ‘For by grace are ye saved through Faith.. it is the gift of God..’. Jesus paid for our healing: ‘by whose stripes, ye were healed’ 1Pe2:24, and Jesus will deliver ‘..us from the wrath to come’ 1Th1:10. Jesus also gave us His peace: ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you..’ Jn14:27. Jesus gave us the Holy Ghost and power: ‘..ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..’ Ac1:8. The Bible states ‘they overcame (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..’ Re12:11. Only by the shed blood of Jesus, can we have victory over Satan. None of God’s blessings can be bought, but all are available to us if we have Faith in the Lord. Ga3:26 tells ‘ye are children of God by Faith in Christ Jesus’. Jesus is ‘the author and finisher of our Faith’ Heb12:3.
Faith- Our Currency to Receive From God
Faith is our ‘currency’ to receive from God. Heb11:6 tells us ‘But without Faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him’. Without Faith we cannot get or receive anything from God. Faith is ‘the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’ Heb11:1. Faith is required to receive a tangible thing that we desire from God that we cannot see yet. Faith is believing God for something we want. Faith is to believe and to trust God for His promises. All God’s promises in Jesus Christ are ‘yea and amen’ 2Co1:20. Only by Faith can we believe that God exists, and thereby, can please Him. God will reward those who diligently seek Him. Faith is a pre-requisite to receiving from God. Faith is to never doubt God’s Word, the Holy Bible. Faith gives us the victory in our lives, and it is the direct opposite of unbelief, doubt, fear and defeat.
The Bible teaches us that ‘Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’ Ro10:17. Faith comes from the many promises, lessons, instructions, and examples in the Bible. Faith comes by studying the Word of God. The Bible reveals God’s nature and character. It reveals His attitude towards righteousness, holiness, and sin. It also reveals God’s expectancy of us. Also, all of God’s promises are conditional. Only if you obey Him, will He answer your prayers. The Bible reveals the rewards for obeying God, and the judgment for forsaking and sinning against Him. The Bible is replete with many promises from God through Jesus Christ. Jesus told us to live ‘by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God’ Mt4:4. Faith and the Word of God go hand in hand. Faith and Truth are integrally related. Jesus prayed ‘Sanctify them through thy truth; thy Word is Truth’ Jn17:17. Only by the Word can we have Faith. Without the Word, there can be no Faith. The more we know the Word, the stronger our Faith will be. The Bible tells us what Jesus Christ had already done for and what is available to us. We need Faith to receive God’s promises. Thus, No Word, No Faith; No Faith, No Blessings From God! Much Faith, Many Blessings From God!
Faith- the Secret to Receiving From God
Jesus said ‘If ye have Faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you’ Mt17:20. Here Jesus was using a hyperbole to illustrate a point. A mustard seed is about the size of a grain of sand. If we have ‘mustard seed Faith’, we can remove the barriers in our life. Simple Faith will move the hand of God. In another verse, Jesus said ‘With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible’ Mt19:26. When the centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant by just declaring it rather than to visit him, Jesus said ‘I have not found so Great Faith, no, not in Israel’ Mt8:10. Our Faith can be seen or be perceived by God.
Here we see that it is our Faith in God that makes us whole, saves us, and grants us what we desire. Jesus said ‘What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them’ Mk11:24, and ‘..all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive’ Mt21:22. Faith is about praying, believ-ing and receiving from God. Jesus said ‘..According to your faith be it unto you’ Mt9:29. Faith is our ‘currency’ to receive from God!
Using Our Mouth- Positive Confession of Faith
We use our mouth to express our Faith and it is our positive confession Our prayers to God activate our Faith. Faith is what we believe in our heart, and is expressed through our mouth. What we believe, hope for, and say- our confession, is expressed with our mouth. Thus, our mouth is our Faith organ. Ro10:8-10 states ‘The word (of God) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of Faith, which we preach. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation’. Positive confession honors God, and brings many blessings upon us. Negative confession does not glorify God, but is very displeasing to Him. Ten of the 12 spies sent out by Moses returned with an ‘evil report’ Nu13:32. Because of their unbelief, they doomed the children of Israel to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, and to die there Nu14:34.
David wrote ‘Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength ..’ Ps8:2. A 1000 years later, Jesus quoted David and said ‘Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings (God) hast perfected praise..’ Mt21:16. Here we see that strength and praise from our mouth are related. When we praise the Lord, we have strength, to stop the devil. Re12:11 states ‘they overcame (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..’. The confession of Faith by our mouth is ‘the word of our testimony’. David said ‘Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer’ Ps19:14. We should always have a positive confession. Paul wrote ‘..The just shall live by faith’ Ga:3:11. We use our mouth in prayer to confess our Faith in God. Thus, our mouth is our Faith organ by which we confess our Faith!
The Antithesis of Faith- Unbelief or Negative Confession
The opposite of Faith is unbelief or negative confession. Jesus said ‘For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned’ Mt12:37. This means that we are blessed by our words, or we are cursed by our words- what we confess out of our mouth. Faith, which is the positive confession of God’s word brings us many blessings. Unbelief, which is negative confession will hurt us and bring us problems! If we confess the Word of God, we will be justified & blessed; if we confess unbelief or doubt, we condemn ourselves! So as believers, we must always be careful of what we say out loud. Once something is negatively spoken, it is difficult to retract! David wrote ‘I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me‘ Ps39:1. David added ‘Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips’ Ps141:3.
Like Jesus, God Will Also Test Our Faith
As Jesus was tested, so shall our Faith be tested by the devil! When Jesus began His ministry, the Spirit led Him into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil for 40 days and nights Mt4:1. Jesus was tested in areas of hunger, pride, earthly powers and riches Mt4:2-11. Isaiah spoke of Jesus when he said ‘Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand’ Is53:10. Jesus went the way of the cross to save us. Jesus was perfected through sufferings Heb2:10, and ‘And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him’ Heb5:9. God also wants to perfect us by using testings, trials, tribulations, temptations, persecutions, afflictions, and sufferings to strengthen our Faith in Him. It is to humble and to draw us nearer to Him. We must take up our cross daily and lose our lives. Mt10:38-39 state ‘And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.. he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it’. Ps34:19 states ‘Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all’. 2Ti3:12 tells ‘..all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution’. Ac14:22 states ‘we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God’.
God Wants to Perfect Us By The Trying Our Faith
Jas1:2-4 state ‘My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your Faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing’. 1Pe1:7 states ‘That the trial of your Faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ’. 1Pe4:12-13 continue ‘Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy’. Ro8:16-17 tell us ‘The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together..’. These scriptures reveal many important things regarding Faith: 1. God wants to perfect us by testing our Faith; 2. It is only by the trial of our Faith can we gain patience ‘be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ’. 3. We are ‘partakers of Christ’s sufferings by the ‘trying of our Faith’ 1Pe4:13, 4. Only then can we be glorified together with Him. Our Faith needs to be tried, tested, and perfected! No suffering, no patience; no perfection, and no Glory! Ga3:11 states ‘..the just shall live by Faith’!
Our Faith- Needs to Be Strengthen by Trials & Testing
The apostle Paul said ‘Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ’ 1Co11:1. Paul said ‘if so we suffer with Him, so then shall we be glorified together’ Ro8:17. Paul said ‘We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body’ 2Co4:8-10. Paul said ‘..I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong’ 2Co13:10. Paul’s Faith was strengthened by what he suffered. So too will our Faith be tested and strengthened by the sufferings that will come our way in the endtimes! No one really likes to suffer, but God desires to change us and to strengthen our Faith in Him, through adversity and challenges in our lives. Heb2:10 states Jesus ‘was made perfect (or complete) through sufferings’. Heb5:8,9 state Jesus learned ‘obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him’. Jesus is ‘the author and finisher of our Faith’ Heb12:3.
Faith and Works- Necessary For Our Salvation
It is very clear in the New Testament that Faith and Works are very important to our salvation! Paul said ‘.. Faith cometh.. by the word of God’ Ro10:17. But the apostle James also wrote about the importance of works! He said ‘But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.. he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the Work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.’ Jas1:22,25. James continued ‘..so faith without Works is dead..’ Jas2:26. Paul added ‘..Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling’ Php2:12. Jesus said ‘..when the Son of man cometh, shall he find Faith on the earth?’ Lk18:8! Then speaking of the end Jesus said ‘But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved’ Mt24:12. In the last days, many will be sleeping, careless, and not ready for the Lord’s return in the Rapture, and will be left behind! We need to work out our own salvation through Faith, and to do the works of God. Jesus said ‘he that endureth to the end shall be saved! Our Faith must be coupled with our Works to be real and alive!
Rapturing Faith Required For the Rapture
Finally, as the Rapture is a supernatural act of God whereby we will be bodily taken into heaven, we need Faith for this to happen! As mentioned earlier, Faith is a prerequisite in order to receive anything from God, especially the Rapture! As we are saved by Faith, healed by Faith, delivered from evil by Faith, etc., we also need Faith to be translated into heaven! In the Faith Chapter, Heb11:5 tells us ‘By Faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God’. Enoch, the 7th generation from Adam was taken or translated bodily to heaven by God, that he should not see death Ge5:23,24. Enoch had this testimony, ‘that he pleased God’. Heb11:6 states ‘But without Faith it is impossible to please (God)..’! The soon coming Rapture was promised by Jesus when He said ‘I will raise him up at the last day’ Jn6:40,44,54, and in Jn14:3 ‘I will come again to receive you unto myself; that where I am, there will you be also’- in heaven! The Rapture is coming soon, even as the world goes into increasing perversity along with ‘..distress of nations, with perplexity ..’Lk21:25. But in order to be taken in the Rapture, one needs to please God and have Faith in Him to raise him up in the last day! If not, he will be Left Behind to face a world that is now literally falling apart! AMEN!
