THE SONSHIP MESSAGE #6- God’s Coming Glory Upon Us

This is series #6 on THE SONSHIP MESSAGE that is hidden in the Holy Bible.

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE is the most preeminent, but hidden message in the New Testament. It is all about God, what He wants to do for and in us,according to the good pleasure of His will’ Ep1:5. Earlier, we learned how God began His SONSHIP plan for man with Adam and Eve in the Garden; how they would succumb to Satan’s temptation and fall into sin, and how God came in the person of Jesus to save us from our sins. After 4000 years, God then used the apostle Paul, to reveal the ‘MYSTERY OF CHRIST’ Ep3:4, which is SONSHIP-  ‘HIDDEN SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN’ Ro16:25.

Only those understanding, desiring and pursuing SONSHIP- ‘THE MYSTERY OF AMONG THE GENTILES; WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY’ Co1:27 will attain to SONSHIP. For without faith (in the Word of God), it is impossible to please God Heb11:6. Paul said ‘..(God) called you by our gospel, to the OBTAINING OF THE GLORY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST’ 2Th2:14. He said ‘When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall YE ALSO APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY’ Co3:4. The good pleasure of God’s will is SONSHIP for us to become His sons and daughters like Jesus Christ Ep1:5, to receive a great inheritance- that is, all that God has Re21:7!

The New Testament is the Last Will and Testament of the LORD JESUS CHRIST an official legal document made effective by the blood of Jesus and it speaks of our great inheiritance in Christ. This inheritance is the GLORY which Jesus had with the Father that He wants to give to those who are found worthy one day Jn17:5,22, Co1:27, Re21:7. In series #5, God’s eternal purpose was contrasted with His temporal purposes in Christ. God’s temporal purposes were fulfilled upon Jesus’ death and resurrection. Before his death, Jesus prayed the Father: ‘And THE GLORY WHICH THOU GAVEST ME I HAVE GIVEN THEM; that they may be one, even as we are one’ Jn17:22.

God’s eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord Ep3:11 is to have more glorified sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. This will one day be fulfilled when THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS’ Ep1:18 be given to those God has deemed worthy. As a POSTSCRIPT to the previous SONSHIP messages written, we will look at SOME OTHER NUANCES of THE SONSHIP MESSAGE.

SONSHIP– An Integral Part of God’s Kingdom and Rule On Earth

When Jesus first appeared on the scene, his message was ‘..The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: REPENT YE, AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL’ Mk1:15. Jesus came to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. He said ‘After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. THY KINGDOM COME. THY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.. forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.. but deliver us from evil: FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen’ Mt6:9-11.

The Lord’s Prayer is a very important prayer to God. Jesus told us to pray for God’s kingdom to come and for God’s WILL  to be done in earth, and for our deliverance from evil. Where is God’s kingdom right now? Lk17:21 tells that ‘..the kingdom of God is within You‘. Jesus said ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you’ Mt6:33. SONSHIP WILL BE ADDED TO ALL THOSE THAT ARE SEEKING GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

God desires a kingdom on Earth where His will be done everywhere in earth as it is in heaven. God’s WILL  will soon be fulfilled when all his enemies shall be defeated, when He pours out his wrath on an evil and corrupt world. Jesus will then return to establish His rule on earth for 1000 years! 1Co15:24 states ‘Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. This will be paradigm shift from man’s rule to God’s rule on earth. SONSHIP is an integral part of God’s plan when His overcoming sons and daughters with Jesus Christ will rule all nations with ‘a rod of iron’ in His kingdom fully established on earth Re2:26,27,19:15,Ps2:9.

SONSHIP Foretold in the Old Testament- The Story of Joseph and Benjamin

In the Bible, names often have prophetic significance likeJESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins’ Mt1:21. There is an interesting type and shadow regarding THE SONSHIP MESSAGE in the Old Testament regarding the names of Joseph and Benjamin. Rachel, Jacob’s 2nd wife, envied her sister Leah because she couldn’t bear any children like Leah. Finally 15 years later, God gave favor to Rachel and she also brought forth a son, which she named Joseph meaning, ‘THE LORD SHALL ADD TO ME ANOTHER SON’ Ge30:24. So every time Joseph was called by his parents or brothers, they all heralded ‘ANOTHER SON IS COMING!’, ‘ANOTHER SON IS COMING!’. What an unusual name, for Joseph, a type of Christ, who became the Ruler of Egypt and a Saviour during the great famine on the earth!

Rachel, an idolater, stole her father Laban’s images to worship Ge31:19. Laban, the Syrian, challenged Jacob when learning he was leaving him to return back to Canaan with his wives and children v20. Laban searched all over the camp for his missing gods, but was unsuccessful because Rachel had hid them under the camel’s furniture that she was sitting on, excusing herself saying she had her period v35. Meanwhile Jacob denied knowing anything, declared that ‘..whomever thou findest thy gods, let him not live..’ v32. Thus, Jacob pronounced a curse on his own beloved wife Rachel when 15 years later, who in very hard labor, died during childbirth to her 2nd son. Jacob then prophetically named this son Benjamin Ge35:18, meaning ‘THE SON OF THE RIGHT HAND’; like Jesus being at the right hand of God Mk16:19, Ac2:33, and the right hand of power’ Mk14:62!

Many years later, God then foreordained the apostle Paul, of the tribe of Benjamin’ Ro11:1, to reveal THE SONSHIP MESSAGE, and the hidden mystery of Christ. Thus Paul, a Benjamite, became the first Pattern Son 1Ti1:16, like Jesus Christ on the right hand of God’ . In type, Rachel may also be likened to today’s Apostate and lukewarm church which will pass away when the SONS OF GOD will be fully manifested Ro8:19.

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE and THE RAPTURE– Alluded to In the Old Testament

David alluded to SONSHIP- being like Jesus, when he exclaimedO LORD, our Lord (Jesus), how excellent is thy name in all the earth.. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers.. What is man, that thou art mindful of him (us)? and the son of man (Jesus), that thou visitest him (us)? FOR THOU HAST MADE (US) A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, AND HAST CROWNED (US) WITH GLORY AND HONOUR..’ Ps8:1-6. Here O LORD refers to God, our Lord to Jesus, and man, to us. David looked forward to being crowned with glory and honour. He saidAs for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I SHALL BE SATISFIED, WHEN I AWAKE, WITH THY LIKENESS’ PS17:15.

Likewise, righteous Job ‘.. perfect and upright, and one that feared God..’ Job 1:1 also alluded to becoming like Jesus. He said If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, TILL MY CHANGE COME’ Job14:14. Both David and Job inferred being changed, having a glorified body like Jesus. This is in line with 1Th4:16,17 ‘..the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive.. shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air..’, and 1Jn3:2 ‘..when (Jesus) shall appear, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM; for we shall see Him as He is’.

Daniel also spoke of a future RESURRECTION. He said And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life.. And THEY THAT BE WISE SHALL SHINE AS THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE FIRMAMENT; AND THEY THAT TURN MANY TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AS THE STARS FOR EVER AND EVER’ Da12:2,3. The righteous dead shall live again with glorified bodies. They will shine with brightness, and as the stars forever. Also the prophet Hosea said After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight’ Hos6:2, meaning after 2 days (2000 years after Christ), on the 3rd day the RAPTURE would occur, as the dead will be raised up and live again. Peter said ‘that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day’ 2Pe3:8, There is a coming RESURRECTION  ‘to awake, to be raised up, arise, rise first, and the dead and alive in Christ to be caught up togetherin the RAPTURE and unto SONSHIP!

THE SONSHIP MESSAGEThe Prodigal Son, A Story About Us

An example of SONSHIP in the New Testament is found in the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke chapter 15. Here prodigal means a spendthrift or extravagant. A man had two sons, the younger being prodigal asked His Father for his inheritance as he wanted to leave home and to travel into a far country. While there, he wasted all his money in riotous living with the women and the harlots  v30. Soon he was broke and a mighty famine came in that land, so he had to work in a piggery to survive. He came to his senses one day and reasoned that His Father’s servants were much better off with enough food, while he perish in hunger. The Prodigal Son decided to return home, confess his sins, tell His Father that he was no more worthy to be called his son, and request to be as one of the hired servants. His Father, who longed for his lost son, saw him a great way off, ran out to embrace and to kiss him.

The Prodigal Son said unto His Father ‘I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son v21. His Father immediately forgave his son and gave him the best robe to put on, ‘a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feetv22. This is a type and shadow of SONSHIP, where the rich Father represents God, the poor Prodigal Son us, the robe, being clothed with God’s glory, the ring, a symbol of God’s authority, and shoes, a symbol of walking in holiness. The Prodigal Son, who was headed for hell, repented, was restored to SONSHIP, and had a big homecoming party. The Prodigal Son story is all about us, about what God wants us to do- to Repent, to Return, and to Remain with the Father Ez3:18-21, to obtain SONSHIP!

SONSHIP– Running the Race of Life to the Finish

The apostle Paul likened attaining SONSHIP to running a race of life to the finish. He said ‘Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run..’ 1Co9:25,26. Paul was referring to running the race of life to win the Grand PrizeSONSHIP, and AN INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN!  SONSHIP IS ‘..THE PRIZE OF THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS’ Php3:14.

Paul added Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded’ Php3:14,15. Paul said to seek perfection and be likeminded as him- to also pursue after SONSHIP! Before his death, Paul wrote ‘Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing2Ti4:8. Jesus likened the kingdom of heaven to a merchant seeking a pearl of great price; when he found it, sold everything he had, and bought it Mt13:46. SONSHIP  IS THAT PEARL OF GREAT PRICE spoken of by Jesus, and THE INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN- A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS spoken of by Paul!

SONSHIP– the GLORIFICATION of the Raptured Saints

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE and the RAPTURE of the Saints are intimately linked together. The GLORIFICATION OF THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD unto SONSHIP will occur at the RAPTURE. Paul wrote ‘Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality 1Co15:51-53.

The RAPTURE is a supernatural event that takes place when the saints of God will change into incorruptible and immortal GLORIFIED beings. Heretofore, only Enoch He11:5, Elijah 2Ki2:11, and Jesus Ac1:9 were translated or physically taken into heaven. But before He left earth, Jesus said ‘I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also’- Jesus promising to take us to heaven, where He is. So one day, all the sons and daughters in Christ both dead and living, will be taken up in the RAPTURE with new immortal and GLORIFIED bodies unto SONSHIP!

The RAPTURE and SONSHIP– A Selective Event

The RAPTURE and attaining SONSHIP will be a selective event, meaning ONLY THOSE WHO ARE WATCHING, PRAYING, AND HAVE READY THEMSELVES BY BEING PURE AND HOLY, SHALL BE TAKEN UP BODILY INTO HEAVEN. ONLY YOU CAN DECIDE TO BE CHOSEN AND TAKEN. Otherwise you will be left behind in the Great Tribulation that Jesus warned of Mt24:21. Jesus saidWatch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be ACCOUNTED WORTHY To Escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man Lk21:36. He said ‘Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man comethMt24:44. He also saidBecause thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earthRe3:10. Paul saidFor God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ 1Th5:9.

God is calling a people unto Himself that are PURE and HOLY to take part in the RAPTURE. David said ‘who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord.. He that hath clean hands, and a PURE heart..’ Ps24:3,4. Jesus saidBlessed are the PURE in heart: for they shall SEE God’ Mt5:8. Paul said LOOKING for that blessed hope, and the glorious APPEARING of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.. that he might REDEEM  us from all iniquity, and PURIFY unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works Tit2:13,14; ‘Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which no man shall SEE the Lord Heb12:14.

John wrote but we know that, WHEN HE SHALL APPEAR, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM; FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS. And every man that hath this hope in him PURIFIETH himself, even as he is PURE1Jn3:3. Paul added ‘..there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord.. shall give me at that day: and all them also that love HIS APPEARING’ 2Ti4:8. Here we see the importance of  SEEING God, LOOKING for Him, to love HIS APPEARING, and to be PURE and HOLY to be taken in the RAPTURE and to attain SONSHIP!

Isaiah prophesied of the coming of GOD’S GLORY UPON US. He wrote ‘ARISE, shine; for thy light is come, and the GLORY of the LORD is risen upon thee.. the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his GLORY shall be seen upon thee’ Is60:1,2. Peter said ‘..for the spirit of GLORY and of God resteth upon you..’ 1Pe4:14. This is the GLORY which Jesus had with the Father that He has given to us Jn17:5,22. Paul said ‘..(God) called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the GLORY of our LORD JESUS CHRIST’ 2Th2:14. He saidIt became God to bring many SONS unto GLORY..’ He2:10, and if we suffer with Jesus, that we would be GLORIFIED together’ Ro8:17. Paul wrote ‘In (Jesus) also, we have obtained an inheritance, being PREDESTINATED ACCORDING TO THE PURPOSE OF (GOD) THAT WORKETH ALL THINGS AFTER THE COUNSEL OF HIS OWN WILL’ Ep1:11. God has willed us an inheritance, SONSHIP- for us to be like Jesus Christ in all His GLORY and POWER! AMEN!

There is a song the SONS OF GOD love to sing from Isaiah 60:1,2:

Arise Shine For Thy Light is Come, Arise Shine For Thy Light is Come

For the Glory of the Lord is Risen, The Glory of the Lord is Come

The Glory of the Lord is Risen, Upon Thee! ♫

But for one to attain SONSHIP, one needs to aspire to SONSHIP! No Aspirations, no SONSHIP! FOR IT BECAME GOD.. TO BRING MANY SONS UNTO GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation (Jesus) perfect through sufferingsHeb2:10! No Sufferings, no SONSHIP! For every Son whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth’ Heb12:6. ‘..if so be we suffer with Him, that we may be GLORIFIED  together, For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the GLORY which shall be revealed in us Ro8:17,18.

In Jn14:3, Jesus promised ‘..I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there you will be also’. In the Rapture, Jesus will not come for an apostate church and lukewarm Christians or unbelievers, but for A FAITHFUL REMNANT- THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD. Everyone else will be LEFT BEHIND in the Great Tribulation, in a world that is literally falling apart. Re7:9,14 states that there will be many tribulation saints who were killed, beheaded- those who were left behind during  the Great Tribulation but did not take the mark of the Beast Re20:4.

As darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people, we need to be prepared to receive GOD’S GLORY upon us Is60:2… SONSHIP- SONS OF GLORY  Heb2:10!

This is Part 3 in a series on THE SONSHIP MESSAGE that is hidden in the Holy Bible.

Paul Chosen By God to Reveal The Mystery of Christ

If you want to know the secrets of God and the inheritance He has for believers, you must pay particular attention to the writings of the apostle Paul. God chose Paul to be the first person to reveal the secret of the mystery of Christ Ep3:4 which was heretofore unknown since Adam was created. Paul was the first to share this special revelation with Christian believers. Paul wroteTO WHOM GOD WOULD MAKE KNOWN WHAT IS THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF THIS MYSTERY AMONG THE GENTILES; WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY’ Co1:27. This mystery is revealed in the 14 epistles written by Paul, from Romans through Hebrews in the New Testament. Paul referred to this mystery over a dozen times as my gospel or our gospel’.

Paul’s Gospel- the Hidden Mystery of Christ

God gave Paul the revelation of His hidden purpose in Christ Jesus, previously unknown to the world. Paul said ‘Now to (God) that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began Ro16:25. Paul wrote ‘According to the eternal purpose which (God) purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord’ Ep3:11Paul was the only writer who spoke of themystery of Christ Co4:3, which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory’ Co1:27.

Paul said that this mysterywas kept secret since the world began’ Ro16:25. He described it asthe wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our Glory 1Co2:7. God has..made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself’ Ep1:9.. ‘How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery Ep3:3; ‘Whereby.. ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ Ep3:4. Paul was told to ‘.. preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God..’ Ep3:8,9.

Paul continuedThis is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church’ Ep5:32. Paul requested prayer that..I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel Ep6:19. Paul said thatthe mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints’ Co1:26, ‘To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory’ Co1:27. Then he saidgreat is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory’ 1Ti3:16. This is Paul’s Gospel- the Mystery of Christ, a hidden message within the Bible!

Why is Christ a Mystery?

What is the revelation of this great mystery that Paul said was kept secret since the world began but now revealed unto us? What is God’s eternal purpose that He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord that pertains to us? Jesus said ‘Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me’ Jn5:39. When we search the scriptures with the help of the Holy Spirit, we may be able to unveil the answer to this hidden Mystery of Christ– the hope of His calling, and of our forthcoming inheritance Ep1:18. This mystery relates to God wanting more sons and daughters like Jesus Christ!

He2:10 statesFor it became God.. in BRINGING MANY SONS UNTO GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings’. Ro8:14 tells us ‘For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are THE SONS OF GOD’. Paul exclaimed ‘O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out’ Ro11:33!

Paul wrote ‘(I) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.. that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS..’ Ep1:16-18.

This Mystery of Christ is for us to come into perfection ‘..unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ’ Ep4:13; to receive the Glory and inheritance that God wants to give us. Paul revealed this Mystery of Christ by his own life, ministry, and teachings!

Paul’s Transformation- From a Sinful Saul to the Apostle Paul; From a Sinner to a Saint

God’s mighty transformation of Saul to Paul speaks of Paul’s own perfection in Jesus Christ, and for us one day, if we know, desire, and pursue what God wants to do in us! A good part of the book of Acts speaks of the transformation of Saul of Tarsus from a sinner taken captive by Satan to a saint of God. Saul was indeed a very strange person.

Saul was filled with hate and spite. He was the ringleader who raised havoc with the new Christians, and imprisoned many for their belief Ac8:1-3. Saul of Tarsus was an unwittingly deceived religious zealot. His background was solid, being born a Roman citizen, an Israelite, and a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin. Saul also had all the credentials for a high future promotion in the Jewish religion. He was a pupil of the great teacher Gamaliel, a Pharisee doctor of law in Jerusalem Ac5:34. Paul wastaught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God..’ Ac22:3.  He wasan Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee, blameless as touching the righteousness which is in the law Php3:5,6. Saul was a religious fanatic and also an insider to the high priest Caiaphas Ac4:6,9:1. He was also a contemporary of Christ knowing of Jesus’ ministry- his teachings, miracles, crucifixion, death and resurrection from the dead, for it was then the biggest story around Palestine.

But Saul was also a blasphemer and persecutor 1Ti1:13, a murderer consenting to the death of Stephen Ac8:1, full of religious pride, jealous of and hater of the followers of Jesus! Saul was an unwitting agent of Satan, the god of this world 2Co4:4, who literally blinded him. He thought he was doing God a favor by trying to stop the growth of Christianity. Saul, was the chief persecutor of those in the ‘Christian way in Jerusalem and Damascus. With written approval from the high priest Caiaphas Ac9:1, Saul was breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of Jesus. He had the fervor of one mightily used by Satan, as one demon-possessed, though he thought he was doing right. But Saul then Paul, met the Master Jesus, while he and his cohorts were going down from Jerusalem to Damascus some 150 miles distance to their synagogues to bind up the believers in Christ, to send them back to Jerusalem for trial. In one great sudden instance, a great light shone from heaven. Saul was slain in the Spirit’, fell from his ass, heard the voice of Jesus, delivered of religious demons, and lost his sight Ac9:3-6. He was led by hand to Damascus to the house of Judas on a street called Straight. There while blind, he prayed and fasted for 3 days v8,9.

Paul, a Chosen Vessel- From a Sinner to a Saint

Jesus then appeared to a certain disciple Ananias in a vision and told him that Saul was a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.. and the great things he must suffer for my name’s sake’ Ac9:15,16. Ananias obeyed and went to pray for Saul. He immediately received his sight, and was filled with the Holy Ghost Ac9:17,18. Straightaway, Saul went to the synagogues and boldly preached that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God Ac9:20. The Jews in Damascus were amazed, confounded, and angry. After many days, they sought to kill him but Saul escaped 2Co11:32,33. Saul later went up to Jerusalem and attempted to join the other disciples of Jesus but was not accepted for they feared him. But Barnabas who had witnessed Saul speaking in Damascus, spoke on his behalf Ac9:27. God subsequently changed Saul’s name to Paul, Ac13:9 and made him an apostle of the Gentiles Ro11:13.

The Ministry of the Apostle Paul

The apostle Paul was a very special and unusual disciple who almost single-handedly took the gospel of Jesus Christ to the then known world Ac17:6. He was forbidden to preach the word in Asia by the Holy Ghost Ac16:6, but made three long missionary journeys over a period of about thirty years into Asia Minor and Europe, and perhaps as far west as Spain Ro15:28. Paul was an apostleas of one born out of due time’ 1Co15:8. He was not mainstreamed into ministry as many were during the formation of the early Church, and was not like the original 12 apostles who walked with the Master for 3 years, not attending Jesus University’. After his dramatic deliverance and conversion, Paul was taught not by man, but supernaturally by revelation of Jesus Christ in the Arabian desert Ga1:11,12,17. This happened several years after Jesus had ascended into heaven Ac1:9. As Jesus had prophesied, Paul suffered greatly to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world Ac9:16. Like many of God’s prophets, Paul was feared, hated, envied, often not accepted, and even killed. To many believers in the early Church, and even today, Paul was indeed very strange, and even Peter said about his teachings, ‘some things hard to be understood 2Pe3:16.

Paul’s Strange and Outrageous Remarks

In his epistles, Paul made many REMARKABLY STRANGE AND SEEMINGLY OUTRAGEOUS REMARKS. Paul said BE YE FOLLOWERS OF ME, even as I also am of Jesus Christ’ 1Co11:1. Paul said if ‘..we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed‘ Ga1:8. Paul wrote ‘..I should Glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto ME, and I unto the world Ga 6:14, and I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in ME: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved ME, and gave himself for ME.’ Ga2:20.

Paul said From henceforth let no man trouble ME: for I bear in MY BODY the marks of the Lord Jesus Ga6:17. He saidGod shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to MY GOSPEL’ Ro2:16. Paul saidThat I may know Jesus, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.. I PRESS TOWARD THE MARK FOR THE PRIZE OF THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS’ Php3:10-14.  Paul said ‘ pleased God.. To reveal his Son IN ME, that I might preach him among the heathen‘ Ga1:15,16. No other apostle ever made such strange remarks as theseIn Paul’s Gospel contains the hidden message of SONSHIP!

God specifically chose Paul to be an example for us to follow to be like ChristPaul was specially chosen by God to reveal his Son in him (Sonship) Ga1:16. He said ‘..that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting’ 1Ti1:16. Paul became a Pattern to them that should hereafter believe on Jesus Christ. Paul was PATTERN SON OF GOD AFTER JESUS CHRIST. He was given special revelations by Jesus Christ, heretofore not known to any disciple.

In Paul’s Gospel are hid many revelations and deep truths regarding God’s plan and purpose for man. Paul was given to know the secrets of the mystery of Christ hidden since the world began Ro16:25. He was a chosen vessel to make known to us.. the riches of the Glory of God’s inheritance in the saints’ Ep1:18. This inheritance is not only about everlasting life Jn3:16, but something much greater. It is about the GLORY and INHERITANCE that God desires to give to all those who will be the overcomers in Christ– the sons and daughters of God Re3:21,21:7, Ro8:17,19, Heb2:10, 1Jn3:1-3, Jn17:22.

Paul’s Gospel Reveals THE SONSHIP MESSAGE– Bringing Many Sons and Daughter Unto Glory

Finally, this is why God wants more sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. BecauseGod is Love’ 1Jn4:8, it constrains Him to give us everything that He has with us- His glory, honor, power, riches, and eternity. This is not much different from we as parents who want to bless our children by giving them many things, and an inheritance one day when we pass onBut because God is also Holy and Just, it requires Him to give only to those that are deemed worthy and holyThus, through the process of life, God will judge us by His Word, the Holy Bible, and our actions. Jesus said ‘..the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day’ Jn12:48.

All serious believers should pay special attention to Paul’s Gospel, as it contains the keys to THE SONSHIP MESSAGE– our perfection in Jesus Christ. It is very important to study and to know how God will bring us unto perfection Heb6:1, this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory Co1:27. It is also very important to know of this great INHERITANCE  that God has for us, which is about God’s ‘eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus..’ Ep3:11. God desires to BRING MANY SONS UNTO GLORY’ Heb2:10; ‘THAT JESUS WOULD BE THE FIRST BORN OF MANY BRETHREN’ Ro8:29; that Paul would be A SON OF GOD and many more would come after him. Paul said ‘I PRESS TOWARD THE MARK FOR THE PRIZE OF THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS’ Php3:14.

Years later the apostle John wrote of this same revelation by Paul regarding SONSHIP. John wrote ‘Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called THE SONS OF GOD..  Beloved, now are we THE SONS OF GOD, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, WHEN (JESUS) SHALL APPEAR, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM; FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS. And everyone that has this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure’ 1Jn3:1-3. Paul wrote that the SONS OF GOD will be manifested in great glory and with great power Ro8:19. They will be perfected ‘..UNTO A PERFECT MAN, UNTO THE MEASURE OF THE STATURE OF THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST’ Ep4:13; Jesus said ‘HE THAT OVERCOMETH SHALL INHERIT ALL THINGS; AND I WILL BE HIS GOD, AND HE SHALL BE MY SON’ Re21:7. This is THE SONSHIP MESSAGE, THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST revealed in Paul’s Gospel TO BE LIKE JESUS CHRIST ONE DAY IN ALL ASPECTS, ATTRIBUTES, AND GLORY.

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE #1- Life Is All About God And Not About Us

This is Part 1 of a series on The Sonship Message hidden in the Holy Bible!

Is there a God? Why did God put so many stars in the sky? Why is the universe so vast? Why are we here on earth? What is the meaning and purpose to our life? Is it just to live for just a very short while, and then to die? Is death the end of our life or is there a life after death? Is there such a thing as a heaven and a hell? Where do you plan on spending eternity, and with whom? What is God’s ultimate plan and purpose for us? What is ‘..the eternal purpose which God purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord’ Ep3:11?

For every believer in Jesus Christ, life is all about God, what He wants to do in our lives. Is64:8 states that God is the Potter and we are his clayGod has a perfect plan for us, but we must each learn what it is for ourselves. If not, we will come short of God’s glory Ro3:23, and His inheritance for us! God wants to transform us into His own image. 2Co5:17 tells ‘..if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’.

Life is all about God. It is about God’s great plan and purpose for us before the world began; why we are here on earth; about what Jesus has done for us, and what God is doing today; about things that must happen before Jesus returns, and about His soon coming kingdom on earth. 1Co2:9,10 state ‘Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit..’. Unless we understand, desire, and pursue what God has prepared for those that love Him, we will not receive the great reward and inheritance that He has for us.  This paper will look at God’s eternal purpose and how it is tied in with the sons and daughters that God so desires to have ‘according to the good pleasure of His willEp1:4,5. This is the Sonship Message- THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD, to be a son or daughter of God like Jesus Christ!

Life on the High Seas- the Miracle in Manila Bay: Missionary Dr. Gigi Valencia Story

In 2005 while visiting and speaking at a church in Calasiao, Philippines, I heard this very stirring testimony. Facing certain death, Filipino missionary Gigi Valencia pled with God to save her, reminding Him about her many sacrifices to serve Him. Gigi asked ‘God, is this how it is going to end? On Feb 27, 2004, somewhere in the vast Manila Bay after midnight, Drs. Ed and Gigi Valencia were on board a huge 12-story Super Ferry, with 23 boxes of medical supplies, equipment, and all their life’s possessions, heading south for Mindanao, the 2nd largest of over 7000 islands in the Philippines archipelago, to do medical mission for the needy in Lanao Del Sur. A planted Abu Sayyaf terrorist bomb exploded causing the huge ship to begin sinking. Separated from her medical doctor husband and two little daughters, Dr. Gigi called upon God for help. Losing her glasses, she could hardly see. She reminded the Lord how she left her $200 per day dental practice to do medical mission for the 700 Club Operations Blessing in Thailand. The Lord said ‘Gigi, life is not about you, but about Me’.

After jumping into the bay from a height of about 50 feet, Gigi was miraculously saved by a rescue boat. Her husband Dr. Ed, with two little girls in tow all with life vests on, could not jump into the ocean. Then Ed saw a strange man dressed in blue with a flashlight beckoning, ‘there is another way out– follow the light. Dr. Ed and girls found themselves safely on the lower deck where they were able to disembark the sinking ship. Dr. Ed did not recall going through any doors or down any stairs, but rescuers helped him, his daughters, and their two young nannies off the ship. Of the 899 people on board, 116 died that day in this major Manila Bay terrorism incident. Photos and stories of Gigi, Ed, and daughters were plastered on the front pages of the major Manila newspapers, testifying of God’s mercy, power and love. Life is not about us, but it is all about God!

Life is About God’s Perfect Plan For Us.. If We Allow Him To Accomplish It In Us

God has a perfect plan for every believer. As we seek His will for our lives, God will take care of the rest. Mt6:33 tells us ‘ ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you’. Ro8:28 states ‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose’.

Life is about God’s plan and purpose for our lives. God’s ultimate plan for us is to be like Jesus Christ Ro8:29, and to give us His kingdom Mt25:34. But it requires for us to ‘ the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.. and thy neighbors as thyself’ Mt22:37,39; ‘For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s’ 1Co6:20. Life is not about doing our own will, but seekingGod’s will be done in earth, as it is in heaven’ Mt6:10. The apostle Paul wroteFor it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure’ Php2:13. We learn of God’s will and direction for us when we read the Holy Bible, pray, and seek His kingdom and his righteousness.

Ep1:4,5 state ‘..God hath chosen us in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will’. Ro8:29,30 state ‘For whom God did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that Jesus might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom God did predestinate.. he also called: and ..whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Heb2:10 states ‘For it became God.. in bringing many sons unto glory, to make (Jesus) the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings’. From these scriptures, we see that God desired, predestinated and chose us before the world began. He called, justified and will glorify us like He did Jesus. Simply stated, this is God’s plan and purpose for usto have more sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. This is the good pleasure of God’s will! Php1:6 tells us ‘Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ’. 1Th5:23 statesFaithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it’.

Life is All About God’s Great Love for Us

Life is all about God’s love for us. 1Jn3:1 states ‘Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..’ Paul said ‘to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God’ Ep3:19. God loved us before the foundation of the world. 1Jn4:19 states ‘We love him, because he first loved us’.

Jn3:16 tells usFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’. God wants us to be His sons and daughters. God wants to fill us with all His fullness. He wants us to become like Him. Jesus saidBe ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect’Mt5:48. Peter said ‘..Be ye holy; for I am holy’1Pe1:16. This is the love of God in Christ Jesus: to become like Him in holiness, personality, perfection, character, power, and in glory!

Life is All About Jesus Christ and His Sacrifice At Calvary

God came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ to fulfill His love, plan and purpose for us. Jesus came to do the will of the Father and to finish His work Jn4:34. Jesus came to redeem us from sin, sickness, death and hell.  Jesus came to save sinners 1Ti1:15. Jesus came to ‘destroy the works of the devil’ 1Jn3:8. Jesus was made a sacrifice for sin He9:26; ‘the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world’ Jn1:29. By His suffering, death and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled God’s plan and purpose for mankind. Jesus came to establish the kingdom of God on earth Mk1:15.

Jesus came that we may have life, and have it more abundantly Jn10:10. Jesus came to abolish death 2Ti1:10. ‘Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ’ Jn1:17, and it is His truth shall make us free Jn8:32,36. Jesus came to give us eternal life Jn3:15. Jesus saidNo man cometh to the Father, but by me’ Jn14:6. As believers and followers, we are complete in Jesus Christ. Life is all about Jesus; what He had already done for us! Jesus is our Saviour, Baptizer, Healer, Deliverer, Provider, our Glory, and our God!

Life is About Knowing and Obeying the Word of God

Jesus saidMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God’ Mt4:4. ‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away’ Mt24:35. He said in the scriptures, we have eternal life and they testify of Him Jn5:39.  Jesus prayed the Father: ‘Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth’ Jn17:17. We are sanctified and cleansedwith the washing of water by the word’ Ep5:26. The Word is Jesus Himself Jn1:1,14. Everything we need to know or want to know regarding God, life and eternal life, His plan and purpose, pleasing, worshipping, praising, thanking, honoring and serving God can be found in the Holy Bible.

David wrote Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path’. He declared ‘The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward Ps19:7-11. The Word of God will perfect us, make us wise, bless us, and enlighten us. It is better than gold and sweeter than honey, and there is great reward in keeping them. God wants to bless us through His eternal Word.

Life is About the Holy Spirit Working In Our Lives

Jesus said He would not leave us comfortless but will come to us in the person of the Holy Spirit Jn14:18. He said ‘..It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you.. I will send him unto you’ Jn16:7. The Holy Spirit is the power of God. Jesus said ‘.. ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth’. The Holy Spirit was sent to empower us to do the works of Jesus Jn14:12, and to change us into the image of Christ 2Co3:18. His job is to teach us all things, guide us into all truth, show us things to come, to bring things to our remembrance, speak only that which He hears from Jesus, and to glorify Jesus Jn14:26,16:13,14.

Paul said For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God Ro8:14. We ‘..are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord’ 2Co3:18. The power of the Holy Spirit that works in us and transforms us, is the same ‘anointing of God that Jesus possessed Lk4:18. It is the Christ in you, the hope of glory’ Co1:27. It is the indwelling Holy Spirit in us that will quicken our mortal bodies to partake in the coming Rapture of the saints Ro8:11, a truly supernatural event.

Life is About Serving the Lord and Being His Disciple

We are told to ‘Serve the LORD with gladness..’ Ps100:2; ‘serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling’ Ps2:11. Jesus said ‘If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour’ Jn12:26. Jesus said unto his disciples, ‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his Cross, and follow me Mt16:24. ‘And whosoever doth not bear his Cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple’ Lk14:27. ‘For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it’ Mk8:35. ‘He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me’ Mt10:37,38.

Jesus saidFollow me, and I will make you fishers of men’. Jesus wants us to ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature’ Mk16:15. Weshall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Jesus Christ’ Co3:24. There is no shortcut to Sonship- to be a son or daughters of God like Jesus Christ. We must deny ourselves and follow the cross of Jesus!

Our Glory to Come- Life is About God’s Desire to Give Us His Glory

Heb2:10 states ‘For it became (God).. in bringing many sons unto Glory, to make the captain of their salvation (Jesus) perfect through sufferings’. Before He was crucified, Jesus prayed O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the Glory which I had with thee before the world was.. And the Glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one’ Jn17:5,22. Before Adam the first man was put on the earth 6000 years ago, God had aneternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord’ Ep3:11. This eternal purpose in Christ Jesus is tobring many sons unto Glory’. Ro8:29,30 stateFor whom (God) did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that (Jesus) might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom (God) did predestinate, them he also called.. justified.. he also Glorified’.

Ro8:17 tells usThe Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with (Jesus), that we may be also Glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the Glory which shall be revealed in us’. God wants to bring more sons unto Glory. 1Pe4:13 states ‘But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his Glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy’. Sufferings and bearing  our Cross Lk14:27 are agents to make us Christ-like.

The way to Glory is to suffer for Christ’s sake. Co3:4 statesWhen Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in Glory’. Paul said this isthe mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the Hope of Glory’ Co1:27. God created man to have more sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. 1Jn3:3 states ‘..every man that hath this hope in (Jesus) purifieth himself, even as he is pure’. If you want to be like Jesus Christ, you must purify yourself, even as He is pure

The Sonship Message- Life is All About God Having More Sons and Daughters Like Jesus Christ

Finally, as our lives are very short compared to eternity and what God has in mind for us, life is all about God and not about us! Ac17:28 states ‘For in God we live, and move, and have our being..’. God is Almighty and Sovereign, and always does what He wants, when He wants. For example, we had no choice to be born or of our parents. We had no choice of our gender- male or female, our race and citizenship, or when in history/time we would be living. God made all the choices for us. God chose our parents, our gender, our race, our birth country, and also to be living today in these last days.

God chose us in Jesus Christ before foundation of the world to be holy and blameless ‘having ‘predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus to himself, according to the good pleasure of His willEp1:4,5. Life is all about God and not about us. It is about His great plan and purpose and about what He is doing in these last days. God is preparing a people for Himself. As Jesus is returning soon, we need to be ready for His coming. Jesus saidBe ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not’ Lk12:40.

Soon the 6th day or 6000 years of mankind will be over, and God will enter into His 7th day rest, His millennial kingdom. God’s 1000 year kingdom under the Lordship of Jesus Christ will then be established. The Overcomers Re3:21,21:7, will be made kings and priests Re5:10, to reign with Him. Nothing will stop God from fulfilling His great plan, and we can be in His plan only if we know what it is, what He wants to do in us, and if we obey and follow Him. Ro8:19 declaresFor the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God

This is the Sonship Message and ‘the eternal purpose which God purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord’ Ep3:11- for God to have more sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. They shall be like Jesus Ro8:29; they shall inherit all things Re21:7; and they shall reign with Him forever and ever in the coming endless eternity Re22:5! Amen!
