America In Decline and Under God’s Judgment Part I

America In Decline and Under God’s Judgment

As we in America celebrate the 4th of July, our Independence Day and our freedom, we need to also understand that America is in decline economically, financially, morally, and spiritually, and is under God’s judgment.

Why Is America Under Judgment?

Have you ever wondered why things are going so bad in America; why we are so broken spiritually and financially?  In all of recorded history, there has never been a nation so blessed by God like America.  The Bible states ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance Ps33:12.  This scripture certainly once rang very true for America.  America was settled by people seeking religious and political freedom from the oppressive religious, monarchial, and feudal systems of old Europe.  Later people from other lands came to America for the economic opportunities she afforded.  People found God in America and the freedom to worship Him.  America is blessed with many natural resources, food and security- with two large protective oceans on both sides, and friendly neighbors to the north and south.  America was a nation under God as evident in our historical documents, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.  Before the 1776 revolutionary war, in defiance to King George III of England, the slogan ‘No king but Jesus’ was coined in America.  But things have changed.  Jesus used to be Lord of America, but not anymore.  God spoke to King Solomon in a dream, ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land..  But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments.. and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them..’ 2Ch7:14,19.  While these scriptures referred to the nation of Israel, they are also applicable to backslidden America, as we will see below.

America has rejected God and forsaken His ways, and is no longer a Christian nationShe has become a diverse nation of cultures and religions, with many false gods- hedonism, money and corruption.  The US Gov’t and Congress have deliberately shown their disdain for God.  Over the past 50 years the Christian biblical influence in America’s culture has greatly waned, almost to the extent of extinction.  America has become increasing anti-God.  We have kicked God out by removing prayers and the Bible from our public schools; some sought to remove God from our Pledge of Allegiance and from our coinage.  We have removed the 10 Commandments from the US courthouses.  Since 1973, nearly 50 million babies have been killed in legalized abortion.  Pornography runs rampant.  Homosexuality is widespread due to the removal of sodomy laws against it.  Six states have already passed laws allowing same-sex marriages, and 11 states have accepted civil unions, including Hawaii.  Some denominations, such as the Evangelical Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, and the UCC churches, have allowed for some gay ministers to conduct gay marriages.  God does not change Mal3:6.  As God had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the practice of sodomy, He will surely do the same to America.  Pr14:34 states ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation: but a sin is a reproach to any people’.

America’s Deliberate War Against God and the Holy Bible

If the above was not bad enough, it appears that America and her liberal leaders are also in a deliberate war against God, fighting against the godly principles that once made us the greatest nation on earth.  By their actions, America is warring against and provoking God.   Prayers of invocation in the name of Jesus Christ during official assemblies have been challenged, discouraged, and in some places disallowed.  America’s apparent war against God can readily be seen recently in the US military and other Gov’t agencies, where military chaplains are forbidden to invoke the name of Jesus, crosses removed in chapels and places of worship, and attempted restrictions of Bibles in military hospitals, all backed by our present administration.  The same is also happening at the state level, where in Hawaii and elsewhere, invocations in the name of Jesus have been disallowed in the legislatures.  Anti-Christian sentiments are rising such that soon there will be laws enacted that will prohibit us from expressing our faith.  Ps2:1,2,4 state ‘Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed..  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision (contempt)’.  From these verses we see that our gov’t leaders- the president, congressmen, and justices are openly warring against God, and His anointed, Jesus Christ.  They will not succeed, but be held in contempt by God.  They will be judged severely, but they will also bring down God’s judgment and destruction upon America.

America Weighed in God’s Balance and Found Wanting Dan5:27; National Righteousness and National Sins

The Bible has much to say about national righteousness and national sinsSimply, if we follow after righteousness, we will live; if not, we will all perish.  The Bible is replete with many examples of kingdoms and nations falling since the time of Adam.  Beginning with the great flood in Noah’s day when all but eight people perished, the fall of the tower of Babel, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah due to gross perversion and homosexuality, the 40 years wandering of the children of Israel because of unbelief, to the breaking up of Israel into two kingdoms because of Solomon’s sins of idolatry, to the going into separate captivity of both Israel and Judah for wickedness and idolatry, to the destruction of Jerusalem because of the killing of Jesus and the prophets Mt23:37,38, God will also severely judge America for her sins of corruption and idolatry.  Ps33:12 states ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD..’, but Ps9:17 states ‘The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God’.  If we, the people, collectively fear and obey God, then God will bless us as a nation.  But if not, then our nation would be cursed and be turned into hell.  Jesus said ‘..  except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish’ Lk13:3,5!

Deuteronomy chapter 28- God’s Conditional Blessings

Deuteronomy chapter 28 details God’s blessings and curses upon Israel that are also applicable to America.  We will look at where America is heading for in light of these scriptures.  Moses wrote ‘And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God’ vs1,2.  Moses said ‘Blessed will they be in the city and in the field; the ground would be fruitful, and also the cattle and the sheep, the wheat and the grains’; everything they do will be blessed, including ‘their coming in and their going out’.  He said that God will fight against their enemies who attack them, and will scatter them in seven directions.  Their land will be blessed and their storehouses will be full.  They will be a holy people, separated unto God by keeping His commandments, and walking in His waysThe world would acknowledge that God is for them, and thus shall be afraid of themThey shall be prosperous, and shall have rain in due seasonThey shall lend unto many nations, and not borrow v12!  The Lord thy God shall make them the head and not the tail; above and not beneath if they obey Him and not depart from His words, and go after other gods vs13,14.  This certainly once described America, but sadly this is not so today!
