IF THE HAWAII MISSILE WARNING ON JAN 13, 2018 WAS REAL…

Thank God the emergency alert of an incoming ballistic missile was a mistake and a false alarm. If not, it would have blown us to smithereens back to the Dark Ages! The Honolulu Star-Advertiser was filled with stories of the Saturday morning erroneous warning by the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, and its retraction 38 minutes later stating it was a False Alarm. Here are the two EMERGENCY ALERTS:

Emer. Alert (8:07 am) BALLISTIC MISSLE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Emer. Alert (8:45 am) There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. Repeat. False Alarm.

The Impact of the False Ballistic Missile Attack

Despite its retraction 38 minutes later, the first incorrect Emergency Alert nearly plunged the entire state into Panic, Fear, Tears, and Chaos. Many residents including 200,000 visitors feared for their lives, calling 911, and their families here and on the mainland, and praying to God for their very lives. Many did not know where to go, where to hide, or how to protect themselves and their loved ones. Workers in the tourist industry could hardly tell their many guests what to do or where to go! Many sought the ground floor of tall buildings or an underground garage for safety. Many at homes huddled in their bathrooms, their garages or basements, some with coolers filled with water, food, and snacks, and with their cell phones in toll! Many youths were in complete terror, some losing their sense of invincibility, and thought they were going to die soon, knowing about the impact of a nuclear explosion from many movies and on TV. One resourceful mother, opened a sewer drain hole cover for her two young children to hide. Traffic was erratic and gridlocked in some areas, as many where racing home to be with their loved ones.

Most people knew from previous news articles that it would take only 10 to 15 minutes from the time a warning is given, to the time of a nuclear explosion. Chaos reigned for a couple of hours until finally everyone got the word that it was a False Alarm by an errant State worker. Then the local politicians got into the act- Hawaii’s Congressional delegation, our Governor, our legislators, the State Civil Defense Director, many stating how unfortunate, inexcusable, and unforgivable this false alert was to the people of Hawaii. Apologies and promises of an investigation were made, and to do better in the future. Meanwhile, the sentiments of some locals turned from total fear to abject anger, for the gross incompetence of our local officials to do their job correctly. This is equivalent to some irresponsible fool starting ‘an accidental nuclear war by pressing the wrong button’, which could happen one day! The credibility of the Hawaii State warning system is now at its lowest point!

But… What If The Ballistic Missile Attack Alert Was Real and Hawaii Was Under Attack?

Very few people in their anxiety and anger have pondered what if this missile warning was for real, and what would have happened to Hawaii if a nuclear warhead did strike these islands. The only factual but inadequate comparison happened almost 75 years ago, in August 1945, when the US dropped two small atomic bombs 20 kilotons each which destroyed two cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and killed nearly 250,000 people. Many also suffered and later died of radiation sickness. Both cities were completely destroyed and it took many years to rebuild. Today’s nuclear missiles are not a mere 20 kilotons, but 1 megaton or more, or 50 times more powerful than those used against Japan, and thus much more devastating and horrific!

If a nuclear ballistic missile had struck Hawaii in the early morning such as 2:30 am, fewer people would have known about it, more people would have been unprepared, and more people would have died. With a 1.4 million population in Hawaii, there would probably be at least 500,000 deaths, 200,000 injured, and 100,000 missing if a nuclear bomb ever struck these islands. Complete chaos would ensue; our homes, schools, businesses, cars and fuel sources would be totally engulfed in flames for days; our infrastructure in shambles and all transportation by land, air or sea would grind to a halt (forget about the rail); the market shelves would be emptied in minutes; our electric grid would fail, our computers fried, our phone system would shut down, and TV stations and the Internet would be inoperative.

The islands would experience a ‘nuclear winter’, from the lingering smoke from the firestorms which would block out the sun for weeks, bringing cold temperatures, darkness, hunger, and even crime! Many would also be exposed to radiation sickness which would significantly increase one’s risk of developing leukemia or cancer later in life. For those who survived the nuclear blast, life would be extremely miserable. Businesses, work, schools, and tourism would shut down, and Hawaii would be placed under some kind of martial law, a police state with a nighttime curfew established. It would take many years, if ever to rebuild Hawaii again. This is what would have happened if a nuclear bomb struck our beloved islands! We must thank God that this did not happen!

God’s Psalm of Deliverance for the Endtimes- Psalm 91

For believers in God and the Holy Bible, this is what we can do to survive in the event of a real nuclear attack. Pray, seek shelter, take our Bibles with us, and turn to Psalm 91 for help and deliverance from God! The Bible states in the event of any incipient danger coming our way, we must depend upon God to protect and deliver us from all evil! King David who authored most of the 150 psalms, may have written this prophetic Psalm 91 specifically for us in mind living today in the Endtimes, because it nearly describes a nuclear attack, and since such threats and weapons were non-existent till 3000 years later.  (It would also help greatly to say the Lord’s prayer as spoken by Jesus. Mt6:9)

Psalm 91 states ‘He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, HE is MY REFUGE and MY FORTRESS: MY GOD; in Him will I trust. Surely HE shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence (radiation sickness). HE shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night (explosions); nor for the arrow that flieth by day (missiles); Nor for the pestilence (radiation) that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday (nuclear blast). A 1000 shall fall at thy side, and 10,000 at thy right hand (massive death); but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.    

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is MY REFUGE, even the most High, THY HABITATION; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For HE shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name (JESUS). He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation’.

Ps91:6-8 speak of a sudden great destruction destroying thousands at one time? Was David referring to a nuclear explosion and fallout (pestilence) where thousands would die instantly, but not those that ‘dwelleth in the secret place of the most High (who) shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty’? David said ‘the LORD, ..is MY REFUGE and MY FORTRESS: MY GOD; in Him will I trust’ Ps91:1-3. 

(Psalm 91 is also applicable to all major disasters such as in a strong earthquake, a storm, a hurricane, a tsunami, a volcanic eruption or wildfire, and esp. in wartime. Recite Psalm 91 out loud whenever your life is threaten or in danger.)

Where or what is this secret place of God, to be under God’s constant protection? We must have a close daily relationship with Jesus Christ in prayer and praise, to be filled with the Holy Ghost, and to know His Word and His many promises to us. It is to have Faith that God would perform His Word. Jesus said ‘If ye abide in Me, and my Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you’ Jn15:7. Paul said ‘Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the Power that worketh in us’ Ep3:20. Paul said ‘I pray GOD YOUR WHOLE SPIRIT AND SOUL AND BODY BE PRESERVED BLAMELESS unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it’ 1Th5:23,24. God promised He would meet all our needs to protect and to deliver us till Jesus returns!  

Hawaii’s Nuclear Faux Pas- A Tragicomedy or an Inevitability One Day?

Several days have passed since this Saturday’s morning fiasco, and Hawaii leaders, politicians, the media, and the public have treated this mainly as a tragicomedy, stating it shouldn’t have happened- the panic, the angst, the fear, the anger; what went wrong, who was responsible, how can we do better, and how can we develop a better emergency fail-safe alert system.

But because of Hawaii’s heavy military presence, we are just as likely a major target as anywhere else in the US, so our leaders should treat a nuclear attack as a great possibility or an inevitability. Roving submarines with nuclear warheads could make anywhere in the world easy targets to hit. The US has them and so does Russia and China. There are about 9 nations today that belong to the ‘nuclear club’ that can and have produced their own nuclear weapons, and many other nations suspected of having them to use.

For Bible Believers- the Inevitability of a Coming Nuclear War

Finally, the Holy Bible foretells of the inevitability of a coming nuclear war, and the earth will one day be obliterated, with massive death and destruction never experienced before in the history of mankind. According to the book of Revelation, millions upon millions of people will die in the coming world wars, ‘..by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone..’ Re9:18. (See also Re6:8, Re8:7-11).

The apostle Peter spoke of the coming nuclear disaster.. ‘But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?’ 2Pe3:10-12. 

Jesus said ‘when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh’; and ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE  all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man’ Lk21:28,36. Because we are living in very perilous times, we need to be holy and godly, ever watchful and prayerful; we must know God’s Word, and depend upon God for our protection, survival, deliverance, and our salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ!  Amen!
