Time Running Out On Mankind Part I

Time is running out on mankind. The whole world appears in serious trouble of destruction and collapse.  Financially, Europe is in near collapse, and America is not very far behind.  Japan has the most public debt equivalent to 250% of their annual gross domestic product  (GDP) of any major nation in the world.  Excessive debt is strangling the economies of the world.  Recent natural disasters are also taking its toll, such as the 9.0 earthquake in Northern Japan last year, and now the drought that is spreading over the entire US farmlands.  Grain prices, especially corn, wheat, and soybeans, have rocketed since the beginning of July 2012, as the recent heat wave broke over 3000 temperature records in the US.  Farmers in the US are comparing this with with the terrible dust bowl drought of the 1930s.  If drought conditions continue, we in America will experience soaring prices for our food, energy, and even for water.  Add to this is an incipient major war in the Mideast, where the major nations in the world are lining up and taking sides.  Things are really looking bad for mankind, and what will happen next is very well-scripted in the Holy Bible, written thousands of years ago.  For a more cogent background on the world economic collapse, please refer to      http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/

The Bible- the History of Mankind

The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, covers a period of only 7000 years of mankind on earth.  Some Bible scholars have traced the timeline from Adam to Christ as 4000 years, and from Christ till today, about 2000 years.  Then Jesus will return and establish His 1000 year reign on earth. There is very little mentioned in the Bible of what happened before and what will happen after.  Why did God create us?  What is life all about?  Why are we here? Why is life so short?  Do we all have to die?  What does God have in mind for man?  What will happen after the 7000-year period?  Where will we spend eternity?  Nearly 6000 years have passed since Adam, and the Bible states Jesus will return to establish His 1000 years kingdom on earth.

In short, the Bible can be summarized as an account of man’s generation, degeneration and regeneration.  It speaks of man’s redemption- salvation, justification, sanctification, and glorification Ro8:30.  It speaks of how God came to earth 2000 years ago in the person of Jesus Christ, to die for our sins in order to redeem us.  Jesus is the only person, who fulfilled his own prophecy of his death and resurrection.  Jesus was crucified, died, became alive again, and ascended into heaven.  Jesus then sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to preach the gospel into all the world; after that He said he will return again to earth.

The Fall of Mankind- Three Epic Falls  Over  a 6000 Year Period

The Bible speaks of two past great falls of mankind, and a 3rd great fall coming up again, near the end of 6000 years.  The 1st fall of man occurred in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sinned against God.  This is when sin and death entered into the world Ro5:12.  Then about 1500 years later, the 2nd fall of man occurred.  In Noah’s days, the debauchery, corruption, and violence led God to destroy millions of people with a great flood, except for Noah and his family.  Ge6:5,10-12 state ‘The wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart’.  The 3rd and final fall of man will occur soon when God will destroy the earth again, this time not by water, but by fire.  Peter said ‘But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up..’ 2Pe3:10.  Jesus said to watch for the signs and to be ready for His coming.  One key sign of Jesus’ return is the increasing corruption and violence on earth as in the days of Noah.  God’s severe judgment will again fall on the earth.  Jesus warned ‘For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be’ Mt24:21.  Jesus said ‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away’ Mt24:35.

The Bible- Only a 7000 year Account of Mankind and the Brevity of Our Lives On Earth

Though scientists claim that earth is about 4.5 billion years old, the Bible is only a 7000-year account of God’s dealing with mankind.  The Bible reveals God’s plan and purpose for man, of which 6000 years have nearly transpired, and there is still another 1000 years to go.  To illustrate how short 6000 years is, a 60 year old man living today would only have to go back a 100 generations and he would meet up with Adam.  After this, Jesus will establish His 1000-year kingdom on earth.  The big question is what happens after the 7000 years of mankind.  The Bible states there will be a new heaven and a new earth Re21:1, and then eternity will begin.  In God’s eyes, 7000 years is like a blink.  It is insignificant compared to the endless eternity and the everlasting life that God promised to those who believe in Jesus Christ.  Simply put, man’s time on earth is very short.  The scripture states ‘..what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away’ Jas4:14.  Our lives are like the grass that withers away Ps102:11.   King David said ‘The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years..’ Ps 90:10.  From the days of David, 3000 years ago to today, our life expectancy is not much more than 70 to 80 years.  Whether we live for 60, 70, 80, or 100 years, the brevity of our lives on earth should compel us to repent, and accept Jesus Christ as Saviour so that we can escape hell and  have everlasting life in heaven.

The Earth- Our Testing Place and Our Lives a Test

Our short lives on earth is a test.  Ecc3:1,2 state ‘To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die’.  If this life is so short, where will you spend eternity? Our next destination after earth is either heaven or hell.  Jesus said ‘Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat, Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it’ Mt7:13,14.  Earth is our testing place where we will either accept Jesus Christ as Saviour, or not.  God never sends anyone to hell; it is our sins that will, for there is no sin in heaven.  The New Testament is God’s love letter to us.  Jn3:16-17 state ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting lifeFor God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved’.  Jn3:36 states ‘He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him’.  The only chance we will have to accept Jesus and be saved is during our lifetime.  He9:27 tells ‘It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment’.  Ro6:23 states ‘The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord’.  The state of our soul upon death, whether we are saved or not, will determine our destination.  The Bible states that there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.

Earthly and Immoral Pursuits, vs Eternal Life

The Bible says the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word of God and make us unfruitful in the things of God Mt13:22.  In America and elsewhere, many seek riches, better jobs and cars, bigger homes, more real estate, stocks and bonds investments and more money.  Jesus said ‘.. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God’ Mt19:23,24.  Jesus questioned ‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?’ Mk8:36,37.  Paul said ‘For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows’ 1Ti6:10.  The wealth of many is often ill-gotten through devious means of exploitation, cheating, theft, drugs, crimes, pornography, prostitution, gambling, real estate and stock manipulations, war-profiting, and other evils.  The price of our own soul and eternal life is worth much more than all the riches of the world.  Today, there are over 1200 billionaires, and untold millionaires in this world.  But no one can buy eternal life because it is not for sale; ‘.. it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast’ Ep2:8,9.  After death, their money will be useless to them.  Also their wealth is often a hindrance to their salvation.  James wrote ‘Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.  Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten.  Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.  Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days’ Jas5:1-3.  Billions in hell have exchanged their souls for temporary pleasures, power, and riches in earthly and immoral pursuits.  We all have our own freewill to choose between eternal life and eternal damnation.  This is all part of God’s 6000-year plan for man; whether we will choose Jesus and eternal life or not!
