THE SONSHIP MESSAGE #6- God’s Coming Glory Upon Us

This is series #6 on THE SONSHIP MESSAGE that is hidden in the Holy Bible.    

GOD’S COMING GLORY UPON US  

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE is the most preeminent, but hidden message in the New Testament. It is all about God, what He wants to do for and in us, ‘according to the good pleasure of His will’ Ep1:5. Earlier, we learned how God began His SONSHIP plan for man with Adam and Eve in the Garden; how they would succumb to Satan’s temptation and fall into sin, and how God had to come in the person of Jesus to save us from our sins. After 4000 years, God then used the apostle Paul, to reveal the ‘MYSTERY OF CHRIST’ Ep3:4, which is SONSHIP-  ‘HIDDEN SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN’ Ro16:25.

Only those understanding, desiring and pursuing SONSHIP- ‘THE MYSTERY OF AMONG THE GENTILES; WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY’ Co1:27 will attain to SONSHIP. For without faith (in the Word of God), it is impossible to please God Heb11:6. Paul said ‘..(God) called you by our gospel, to the OBTAINING OF THE GLORY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST’ 2Th2:14. He said ‘When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall YE ALSO APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY’ Co3:4. The good pleasure of God’s will is SONSHIP– for us to become His sons and daughters like Jesus Christ Ep1:5, to receive a great inheritance- that is, EVERYTHING THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR US Re21:7!

God’s eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord Ep3:11 is to have more glorified sons and daughters like Jesus Christ. This will one day be fulfilled when ‘THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS’ Ep1:18 be given to those God has deemed worthy. As a POSTSCRIPT to the previous SONSHIP messages written, we will look at SOME OTHER NUANCES of THE SONSHIP MESSAGE.

SONSHIP– An Integral Part of God’s Kingdom and Rule On Earth

The New Testament is the Last Will and Testament of the LORD JESUS CHRIST– an official legal document made effective by the blood of Jesus and it speaks of our great inheiritance in Christ. OUR inheritance is the GLORY which Jesus had with the Father that He wants to give to those who are found worthy one day Jn17:5,22, Co1:27, Re21:7. In series #5, God’s eternal purpose was contrasted with His temporal purposes in Christ. God’s temporal purposes were fulfilled upon Jesus’ death and resurrection. Before his death, Jesus prayed the Father: ‘And THE GLORY WHICH THOU GAVEST ME I HAVE GIVEN THEM; that they may be ONE, even as we are ONE‘ Jn17:22.

When Jesus first appeared on the scene, his message was ‘..The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: REPENT YE, AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL’ Mk1:15. Jesus came to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. He said ‘After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. THY KINGDOM COME. THY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.. forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.. but deliver us from evil: FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, and the power, and the GLORY, forever. Amen’ Mt6:9-11.

The Lord’s Prayer is a very important prayer to God. Jesus told us to pray for God’s kingdom to come and for God’s WILL  to be done in earth, and for our deliverance from evil. Where is God’s kingdom right now? Lk17:21 tells that ‘..the kingdom of God is within You‘. Jesus said ‘..seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you’ Mt6:33. SONSHIP WILL BE ADDED TO ALL THOSE THAT ARE SEEKING GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

God desires a kingdom on Earth where His will be done everywhere in earth as it is in heaven. God’s WILL  will soon be fulfilled when all his enemies shall be defeated, when He pours out his wrath on an evil and corrupt world. Jesus will then return to establish His rule on earth for 1000 years! 1Co15:24 states ‘Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power’. This will be paradigm shift from man’s rule to God’s rule on earth. SONSHIP is an integral part of God’s plan when His overcoming sons and daughters with Jesus Christ will rule all nations with ‘a rod of iron’ in His kingdom fully established on earth Re2:26,27,19:15,Ps2:9.

SONSHIP Foretold in the Old Testament– The Story of Joseph and Benjamin 

In the Bible, names often have prophetic significance like ‘JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins’ Mt1:21. There is an interesting type and shadow regarding THE SONSHIP MESSAGE in the Old Testament regarding the names of Joseph and Benjamin. Rachel, Jacob’s 2nd wife, envied her sister Leah because she couldn’t bear any children like Leah. Finally 15 years later, God gave favor to Rachel and she also brought forth a son, which she named Joseph meaning, ‘THE LORD SHALL ADD TO ME ANOTHER SON’ Ge30:24. So every time Joseph was called by his parents or brothers, they all heralded ‘ANOTHER SON IS COMING!’, ‘ANOTHER SON IS COMING!’. What an unusual name, for Joseph, a type of Christ, who became the Ruler of Egypt and a Saviour during the great famine on the earth!

Rachel, an idolater, stole her father Laban’s images to worship Ge31:19. Laban, the Syrian, challenged Jacob when learning he was leaving him to return back to Canaan with his wives and children v20. Laban searched all over the camp for his missing gods, but was unsuccessful because Rachel had hid them under the camel’s furniture that she was sitting on, excusing herself saying she had her period v35. Meanwhile Jacob denied knowing anything, declared that ‘..whomever thou findest thy gods, let him not live..’ v32. Thus, Jacob pronounced a curse on his own beloved wife Rachel when 15 years later, who in very hard labor, died during childbirth to her 2nd son. Jacob then prophetically named this son Benjamin Ge35:18, meaning ‘THE SON OF THE RIGHT HAND’; like Jesus being at the right hand of God Mk16:19, Ac2:33, and ‘the right hand of power’ Mk14:62!

Many years later, God then foreordained the apostle Paul, ‘of the tribe of Benjamin’ Ro11:1, to reveal THE SONSHIP MESSAGE, and the hidden mystery of Christ. Thus Paul, a Benjamite, became the first ‘Pattern Son’ 1Ti1:16, ‘like Jesus Christ on the right hand of God’ . In type, Rachel may also be likened to today’s Apostate and lukewarm church which will pass away when the SONS OF GOD will be fully manifested Ro8:19. 

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE and THE RAPTURE– Alluded to In the Old Testament

David alluded to SONSHIP- being like Jesus, when he exclaimed ‘O LORD, our Lord (Jesus), how excellent is thy name in all the earth.. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers.. What is man, that thou art mindful of him (us)? and the son of man (Jesus), that thou visitest him (us)? FOR THOU HAST MADE (US) A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, AND HAST CROWNED (US) WITH GLORY AND HONOUR..’ Ps8:1-6. Here ‘O LORD’ refers to God, ‘our Lord’ to Jesus, and ‘man’, to us. David looked forward to being crowned with glory and honour. He said ‘As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I SHALL BE SATISFIED, WHEN I AWAKE, WITH THY LIKENESS’ PS17:15.

Likewise, righteous Job ‘.. perfect and upright, and one that feared God..’ Job 1:1 also alluded to becoming like Jesus. He said ‘If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, TILL MY CHANGE COME’ Job14:14. Both David and Job inferred being changed, having a glorified body like Jesus. This is in line with 1Th4:16,17 ‘..the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive.. shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air..’, and 1Jn3:2 ‘..WHEN (JESUS) SHALL APPEAR, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM; FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS’.

Daniel also spoke of a future RESURRECTION. He said ‘And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life.. And THEY THAT BE WISE SHALL SHINE AS THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE FIRMAMENT; AND THEY THAT TURN MANY TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AS THE STARS FOR EVER AND EVER’ Da12:2,3. The righteous dead shall live again with glorified bodies. They will shine with ‘brightness, and as the stars forever’. Also the prophet Hosea said ‘After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight’ Hos6:2, meaning after 2 days (2000 years after Christ), on the 3rd day the RAPTURE would occur, as the dead will be raised up and live again. Peter said ‘that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day’ 2Pe3:8, There is a coming RESURRECTION  ‘to awake, to be raised up, arise, rise first, and the dead and alive in Christ to be caught up together’ IN THE RAPTURE AND UNTO SONSHIP!

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE– The Prodigal Son, A Story About Us

An example of SONSHIP in the New Testament is found in the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke chapter 15. Here prodigal means a spendthrift or extravagant. A man had two sons, the younger being prodigal asked His Father for his inheritance as he wanted to leave home and to travel into a far country. While there, he wasted all his money in riotous living with the women and the harlots  v30. Soon he was broke and a mighty famine came in that land, so he had to work in a piggery to survive. He came to his senses one day and reasoned that His Father’s servants were much better off with enough food, while he perish in hunger. The Prodigal Son decided to return home, confess his sins, tell His Father that he was no more worthy to be called his son, and request to be as one of the hired servants. His Father, who longed for his lost son, saw him a great way off, ran out to embrace and to kiss him.

The Prodigal Son said unto His Father ‘I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son’ v21. His Father immediately forgave his son and gave him the best robe to put on, ‘a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet’ v22. This is a type and shadow of SONSHIP, where the rich Father represents God, the poor Prodigal Son us, the robe, being clothed with God’s glory, the ring, a symbol of God’s authority, and shoes, a symbol of walking in holiness. The Prodigal Son, who was headed for hell, repented, was restored to SONSHIP, and had a big homecoming party. The Prodigal Son story is all about us, about what God wants us to do- to Repent, to Return, and to Remain with the Father Ez3:18-21, to obtain SONSHIP!

SONSHIP– Running the Race of Life to the Finish

The apostle Paul likened attaining SONSHIP to running a race of life to the finish. He said ‘Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run..’ 1Co9:25,26. Paul was referring to running the race of life to win the Grand Prize– SONSHIP, and AN INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN!  SONSHIP IS ‘..THE PRIZE OF THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS’ Php3:14.

Paul added ‘Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded’ Php3:14,15. Paul said to seek perfection and be likeminded as him- to also pursue after SONSHIP! Before his death, Paul wrote ‘Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing’ 2Ti4:8. Jesus likened the kingdom of heaven to a merchant seeking a ‘pearl of great price’; when he found it, sold everything he had, and bought it Mt13:46. SONSHIP  IS THAT PEARL OF GREAT PRICE spoken of by Jesus, and THE INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN- A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS spoken of by Paul!

SONSHIP– the GLORIFICATION of the Raptured Saints

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE and the RAPTURE of the Saints are intimately linked together. The GLORIFICATION OF THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD unto SONSHIP will occur at the RAPTURE. Paul wrote ‘Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality’ 1Co15:51-53.

The RAPTURE is a supernatural event that takes place when the saints of God will change into incorruptible and immortal GLORIFIED beings. Heretofore, only Enoch He11:5, Elijah 2Ki2:11, and Jesus Ac1:9 were translated or physically taken into heaven. But before He left earth, Jesus said ‘I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also’- Jesus promising to take us to heaven, where He is. So one day, all the sons and daughters in Christ both dead and living, will be taken up in the RAPTURE with new immortal and GLORIFIED bodies unto SONSHIP!

The RAPTURE and SONSHIP– A Selective Event 

The RAPTURE and attaining SONSHIP will be a selective event, meaning ONLY THOSE WHO ARE WATCHING, PRAYING, AND HAVE READY THEMSELVES BY BEING PURE AND HOLY, SHALL BE TAKEN UP BODILY INTO HEAVEN. ONLY YOU CAN DECIDE TO BE CHOSEN AND TAKEN. Otherwise you will be left behind in the Great Tribulation that Jesus warned of Mt24:21. Jesus said ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be ACCOUNTED WORTHY To Escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man’ Lk21:36. He said ‘Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh’ Mt24:44. He also said ‘Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth’ Re3:10. Paul said ‘For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ’ 1Th5:9.

God is calling a people unto Himself that are PURE and HOLY to take part in the RAPTURE. David said ‘who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord.. He that hath clean hands, and a PURE heart..’ Ps24:3,4. Jesus said ‘Blessed are the PURE in heart: for they shall SEE God’ Mt5:8. Paul said ‘LOOKING for that blessed hope, and the glorious APPEARING of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.. that he might REDEEM  us from all iniquity, and PURIFY unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works’ Tit2:13,14; ‘Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which no man shall SEE the Lord’ Heb12:14.

John wrote ‘but we know that, WHEN HE SHALL APPEAR, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM; FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS. And every man that hath this hope in HIM PURIFIETH himself, even as he is PURE’ 1Jn3:3. Paul added ‘..there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord.. shall give me at that day: and all them also that love HIS APPEARING’ 2Ti4:8. Here we see the importance of  SEEING God, LOOKING for Him, to love HIS APPEARING, and to be PURE and HOLY to be taken in the RAPTURE and to attain SONSHIP!

THE SONSHIP MESSAGE– A POSTSCRIPT To God’s Coming GLORY Upon Us

Isaiah prophesied of the coming of GOD’S GLORY UPON US. He wrote ‘ARISE, shine; for thy light is come, and the GLORY of the LORD is risen upon thee.. the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his GLORY shall be seen upon thee’ Is60:1,2. Peter said ‘..for the spirit of GLORY and of God resteth upon you..’ 1Pe4:14. This is the GLORY which Jesus had with the Father that He has given to us Jn17:5,22. Paul said ‘..(God) called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the GLORY of our LORD JESUS CHRIST’ 2Th2:14. He said ‘It became God to bring many SONS unto GLORY..’ He2:10, and ‘if we suffer with Jesus, that we would be GLORIFIED together’ Ro8:17. Paul wrote ‘In (Jesus) also, we have obtained an inheritance, being PREDESTINATED ACCORDING TO THE PURPOSE OF (GOD) THAT WORKETH ALL THINGS AFTER THE COUNSEL OF HIS OWN WILL’ Ep1:11. God has willed us an inheritance, SONSHIP- for us to be like Jesus Christ in all His GLORY and POWER! AMEN!

There is a song the SONS OF GOD love to sing from Isaiah 60:1,2:

♫ Arise Shine For Thy Light is Come, Arise Shine For Thy Light is Come

For the Glory of the Lord is Risen, The Glory of the Lord is Come

The Glory of the Lord is Risen, Upon Thee! ♫                     

But for one to attain SONSHIP, one needs to aspire to SONSHIP! No Aspirations, no SONSHIP! ‘FOR IT BECAME GOD.. TO BRING MANY SONS UNTO GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation (Jesus) perfect through sufferings’ Heb2:10! No Sufferings, no SONSHIP! ‘For every Son whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth’ Heb12:6. ‘..if so be we suffer with Him, that we may be GLORIFIED  together, For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the GLORY which shall be revealed in us’ Ro8:17,18.

In Jn14:3, Jesus promised ‘..I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there you will be also’. In the Rapture, Jesus will not come for an apostate church and lukewarm Christians or unbelievers, but for A FAITHFUL REMNANT- THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD. Everyone else will be LEFT BEHIND in the Great Tribulation, in a world that is literally falling apart. Re7:9,14 states that there will be many tribulation saints who were killed, beheaded- those who were left behind during  the Great Tribulation but did not take the mark of the Beast Re20:4.

As darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people, we need to be prepared to receive GOD’S GLORY upon us Is60:2… SONSHIP- SONS OF GLORY  Heb2:10!
